Snake - Privacy & terms
Snake is a small multiplayer game playable from a post on X. This page says what it stores and why.
What is collected
- Your X identity when you choose "Sign in with X": your numeric X id and @handle (scopes
users.read and tweet.read, used only to read your own profile once). The X access token is discarded immediately and never stored. No posts, follows or messages are read.
- Game data: your current snake, your direction changes and your best score, which appears on the public leaderboard under your @handle.
- Technical traffic data: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, language, time zone, screen size and request headers, to operate, secure and debug the service.
Why
To let you play, to show the leaderboard, to keep the game fair (one account, one game, rate limits) and to protect the service from abuse.
How long
- Current game state: up to 24 hours after your last move.
- Traffic log: the most recent 1000 entries, never kept longer than 30 days.
- Leaderboard score: until you ask for its removal.
- Your sign-in session lives in your browser (local storage) for 7 days.
Who processes it
The game runs on Vercel and stores data in Upstash Redis (Frankfurt, Germany). Sign-in is handled by X. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Your choices
- Revoke the app at any time in X: Settings → Security and account → Connected apps.
- Ask for the removal of your leaderboard entry or data by contacting the operator through the X account that posted the game.
Terms
The game is provided as is, without warranty. Cheating or abusing the service (automation, flooding, attempts to bypass limits) may lead to a ban from the leaderboard.
